Power Song to Lift Your Spirit Because I am Super Offended

December 9, 2015

Today is a tough one, I have lots of conflicting ideas about what to write swimming around in my head.  I am torn. Normally I don’t write about politics, I like to keep this page light and fun, but today I feel compelled to vent a little. Sorry folks.

There is so much going on in the world, first off, last week’s terror attack in San Bernardino. My personal condolences to the families, friends, and loved ones of the victims. I cannot imagine your overwhelming sorrow. To the survivors, my sincere hope that you can move past this tragedy and the visions that haunt your sleep.  Having been through tragic circumstances myself, I know it takes time, strength and persistence to recover enough to move on with your life.  I wish you that recovery.

Second, in response to the terror attack, Donald Trump made an open forum statement about banning all Muslims from entering or reentering the US. Was he serious?  Donald, you don’t know me, but  would like to make a frank statement in response to your comment. You’re a bigoted asshole. Stop blaming Muslims for the problems in the world.  Stop spreading ignorance to your supporters. Ignorance and intolerance are what cause radicalism and terror, not religion.

Radical extremists commited these terror attacks, not Muslims. Islam is a peaceful religion, and it is a faith in a higher power. Similar to Judaism, Catholicism, Episcopalian and other religious sects, it is a belief in something more than ourselves. Each religion is different, and people are entitled to believe and be faithful.

I don’t see him talking about expanding gun laws so people can protect themselves from ANY threat?  Why is he persecuting versus coming up with solutions to help citizens feel more secure.

I was personally offended by Donald Trump’s comment.  I am proud to know many wonderful Muslim people including my son’s girlfriend.  She is a lovely person who I would be proud to one day call  family. They’re 20, it’s much too early for marriage talk, however, she is a wonderful person. I am proud of my son and his choice in women.

Mr. Trump thank goodness I am not Republican because you’re an embarrassment to the party. I hope you lose the primaries and come back to your tower here in NYC with your tail between your legs. And to think, you’re a New Yorker!! New York is one of the biggest melting pots of ethnic, cultural and religious diversity, not divisiveness.

If I was Melania I would fling a Louboutin at you and tell you to shut up already.

I am sorry my Fabulous Friends, but this entire situation I find so offensive I couldn’t help but comment. You may agree with me, you may disagree, however I cannot tolerate bigotry in any form. It’s just not who I am.

I needed an uplifting Power song after all this garbage I was forced to listen to.  My ears need something beautiful to drown out the ignorance.

Here are Jesse Smollett and Alicia Keys from the TV show Empire singing Powerful. Empire is one of my favorite shows and this song touched me deeply the first time I heard it.  It’s lyrics are very timely with all the angst going on around us.

All lives matter. All people matter.   I hope you find the song as peaceful as I did. I needed to find some solace in music today.

Time to work out. I hope you all have a great evening.

💋 ~ Miranda
