Hello my Fabulous Friends! I hope everyone that celebrates had a lovely Thanksgiving and if you don’t, that you had a stupendous weekend.
I managed to leave my office at 3pm last Wednesday and decided I was going to take a few much needed additional days off. I capitalized on the time to physically regroup, mentally recuperate and get a much needed jump on holiday shopping aka retail therapy.
Oh I love to shop. Cha-Ching!
Since 90% of my family lives out of state, I need to get moving early in December with holiday shopping. I do 99% of holiday shopping online. I detest malls with a passion. I do not enjoy wandering around, carrying packages and my coat only to find something I want, and it’s not in the size, color or price point I want. Then to wrap, pack and ship myself, AGONY…
I know, some of you swear you have to “feel it and see it” in order to buy it, not me. If I don’t love it when it arrives in the mail, back it goes. No skin off my back.
Thank Goodness for Amazon Prime…
This year online shopping rose 14% on Black Friday and retail brick and mortar was down 3%. Everyone seems to be following me and jumping on the online bandwagon. I have been on it for years. I am probably one of the founders of the bandwagon. Lol.
I saw the people on TV camped out in front of the local Best Buy and the fight over $10 rice cookers in a WalMart. These ideas , and the rush to grab was sheer insanity if you ask me.Seriously if any of you are amazing Black Friday brick and mortar store shoppers I would love to hear from you! I have no idea what the attraction is.
My preference – Point, click, ship from my nice warm sofa with a cup of coffee, in my pajamas, thanks!
During my days off I took the timeto sit and hit my shopping list hard. 34 gifts down, 6 to go. I plan on being fully completed with holiday shopping this weekend. Let’s just hope everything else is available and ships on time.
Already, two gifts are back ordered and I was forced to make quick substitutions. If I would have waited any longer to start my holiday shopping, I may have missed critical details and shipping deadlines.
My saving grace tool – MGifts app. It tracks people, events, what’s needed versus purchased, ideas and the all important BUDGET. I receive no benefit from endorsing the MGifts app, however if I think something is great, I want to share it. I would be lost without it. Find it here: MGifts App Best of all it is FREE!
My friend at How To Stuff Your Pig posted a great article on stacking up online shopping savings. Give it a click and a read!
Some of you say you love online shopping because it helps curb impulse buying. I find it’s the exact opposite for me. I am a shopaholic online!!
One gift for them, two for me…I know what I want and need better than anyone.
My husband and sons got me some truly nice stuff this year, including an ArtDeco ring I have been admiring and some perfume. Plus QVC has some nice cozy plush throws on sale. Had to pick up 3 of those at the sale price of $29 of course. Plus, I forgot I think I found a bronze toggle bracelet…. Oh well, when the packages come. I will slap my guys names on it and a “To Mom” or “To Miranda” and I am all set.
Better me buy it than it goes back, am I wrong?? If I let Hubby shop, I will get a sweater with some crazy shit on it in pink angora. With sequins. Seriously. Dog House he would go!
Thanks to his thoughtful wife, hubby won’t be in the Dog House with these fellas- enjoy this video, it’s hysterical:
So, what are your shopping trends for the holidays? Any tips or trends to share?
