Thirsty Thursday…A Toast to My Savior and Sandy, That Bitch…

October 29, 2015

Hello Fabulous Friends! So excited, I just spent an awesome 2 hours celebrating Thirsty Thursday with my cousin at a local bar near Grand Central Terminal.  The bar serves Sauvignon Blanc, therefore I go…

My cousin is the ultimate best friend.  Our fathers are brothers.  We grew up together and literally spent every weekend together from birth to 16.

I was taller than him for most of my childhood.  I would pick on him as many older sisters would do. Frisbees to the head, pool drownings, pushing him off the swing set. We had a blast, or at least I did. Then he turned 13, and suddenly he was over 6 feet tall. The shoe was suddenly on the other foot.  I got drowned, a lot.

Honestly tho’ they are amazing memories. We had our first drinks together, went to bars and clubs as teens, and survived relationships, marriages and children together. He is closer to me than most brothers are to their sisters, and I consider myself very lucky.

I don’t know where I would be today without him. During the darkest days of my life he has always been there for me. He let me cry, heard me scream, and is always ready with a hug.

He is one of those people who is always positive, despite any obstacle. He is also awesome for any woman’s self confidence. He notices when a woman looks nice and ensures he pays her a vocal comment.   Ladies, he is single, and a keeper!!!!

Three years ago today was Hurricane Sandy and I had almost 4 ft of water in my home during the storm surge. It was totally unexpected, scary as hell and I literally downed a bottle of wine in 15 minutes at the height of the storm.  If I was going out, I was going out buzzed.  Lol.

The next morning, no power, no idea of the devastation surrounding us in communities all over NY and NJ, Kevin was at my door. Mops, squeegees, disinfectant cleaner and bleach in hand.  He helped my husband clean our home out and took pictures for my insurance company while I recovered from my hangover.  He held my hand while I cried.  He came to visit as often as he could from Long Island despite the gas shortage and power outages.  He was there. I have no words to express how much that meant to me.

He came over during renovations, and helped me celebrate when rebuilding was complete. I wouldn’t have it any other way.

We toasted Hurricane Sandy tonight.  I know people who are still not in their homes, we said a silent prayer for all of you to get home soon.

My Kevin has been my constant forever and no bitch named Sandy could get in our way. F you Sandy, he’s all mine!

But seriously, he is single… Ladies?

He is gonna kill me!  Lol.
