Power Song For Today! Walk the Walk!

October 16, 2015

Today’s power song is dedicated to my childhood friend Wendy and all those participating in the Avon Foundation 39 Mile Walk to End Breast Cancer this weekend.

Wendy Kickin’ Ass

The walk is a 2 day event and Wendy along with her Blista Sistas and thousands of others will be walking in NYC in support of breast cancer research, treatment and finding a cure.

Blista Sistas

Wendy’s individual commitment to the cause is commendable.  For the past 6 years she has walked not for herself, but in support of others. She has multiple fundraisers and benefits all year long, culminating with her packing her backpack, sleeping bags and gear for the 2 day walk.

The Cape…

She wears a beautiful handmade cape with pink ribbons and angels bearing the names of those her supporters have asked her to carry with her on her journey. This year, my Aunt Eileen joins the Angels. My Aunt died in December 2013 after a 17 year battle with cancer and I miss her every day. Knowing Wendy is carrying so many with her brings me joy.

Gone But Not Forgotten

I asked Wendy to contribute today’s Power Song for us. She immediately chose “I’m Gonna Love You Through It” by Martina McBride.

Wendy heard this song at her first walk 6 years ago and it has stayed with her ever since.  We both dare you to listen without reaching for a tissue!

Wendy, you’re beautiful and thank you for your support and dedication to Breast Cancer Awareness and finding a cure. Stand proud, walk fast and layer up! It’s gonna be COLD OUT THERE!  However, I know the cold will only further your dedication to finish. Love you Girl!!  Post lots of pictures so I can share them!

Those of you who walk with my Wendy, you’re awesome!!  Keep on walking and let’s kick cancer to the curb!!
