What Happened to That Diet?

August 10, 2015

Three of you (thank you) have asked me, “Miranda, you have not talked about The 100 Diet in a few weeks, how is your progress?”

For those of you who are new readers, The 100 is a diet authored by Jorge Cruise. You limit yourself to no more than 100 sugar calories per day. I started a few weeks ago after reading the book. It’s principles are somewhat like a Paleo diet, except with The 100 you can eat cheese.

Truth, my progress is non-existent. Every pound I lost on The 100 has been regained.  I am back to my starting weight.

The lack of progress and the entire situation is of MY OWN MAKING and not the fault of this healthy diet plan. I accept full responsibility for my failures on this diet to date.

I have not been as strong as I would like to pretend I am when it comes to my dietary choices. I have made mistakes.

First off, any new diet plan is HARD. Any significant lifestyle change is hard, and it’s a constant uphill battle to keep focused and remain diligent.

No excuses, I didn’t remain as focused as I should have been.

Put down the office Birthday cake Miranda!!

Just because your colleague brings you “Percy Pigs” from England doesn’t mean you need to eat half the bag in one sitting.

Darn those little gummies are good!!! If you have never been to England, “Percy Pigs” alone are worth the trip!

When you go to a wedding, have ONE glass of wine during cocktail hour, not three.  Put down the dinner roll!!

And, last but not least, Oreos are NOT OK. But I would be hard-pressed to tell you I don’t love those little cream-filled chocolate cookies. Oreos are the Devil on my shoulder.Tempting me with their siren song, “Miranda, you know how you love us…”

I had 2 Oreos this weekend.

These past two months were literally food “train wrecks”. I took my sons on a cruise to Bermuda, had 2 weddings, a bridal shower, followed by a weeklong conference and then a huge family reunion this Saturday.  Plus, one of my closest friends is visiting from England and yesterday we went to Rockaway Beach, followed by a late lunch at the Bungalow Bar in Far Rockaway New York.

If you live in NYC area, make sure to check Bungalow Bar out one weekend, good food and lovely outdoor seating on Jamaica Bay. It’s one of those hidden gems that I love bringing visitors to, it is so casual and satisfying.

2 Pinot Grigios, Fried Calamari and Tuna Tartare later, I was stuffed to the gills.

Then my friend  and I  went back to my house  and had an aperitif.  I had to ask my husband to drive her to the train station. I do NOT drink and drive. He was a good husband and did the driving.

Contrary to The 100’s principles, my sugar caloric content was blown by my poor dietary choices, practically every day since June 26.

Now for the $64,000 Questions!!

Has Miranda given up?  Is she resigned and ready to be counted out?

 Is her diet quest over?

Will she eat that cookie?

If at first you don’t succeed, try try again.

I was good all day today, and tomorrow is a new day. Wish me luck!!

💋 ~ Miranda
