Love and Marriage… My Top 10 Secrets to Hitting Your 25!

June 17, 2015

A few of you have written to congratulate me for a major milestone this year, I have been married for 25 years!  Thank you so much.

Our silver anniversary was very special and a testament to our commitment to each other and our family.

Let’s get real for a second, it’s NOT easy. I have wanted to run hubby over with my car on MANY occasions and I count Snapped as one of my favorite TV shows.  Hubby has probably imagined burning me alive in the town square at least once, I would not blame him.  Ok, more than once.

Some of you are getting engaged or newly married and you’ve asked “what was your secret to lasting for 25 years?”

Here are are my top 10 tips (with some help from Lucy and Ricky) for longevity in marriage.

1. Make faces versus raise your voice  – sticking out your tongue beats yelling.  Better stress reliever too.

2. Always be your sexy best to keep his attention.  Lingerie works wonders.

3. Bring it in the bedroom!

4.  Dont Hold Grudges – Settle arguments immediately.

5. Keep the Mystery alive, keep him guessing.

6.  Finances are both of your responsibility.  Save and spend, wisely.

7.  Leverage your skills. Find out what you’re good at and do it. Happy individuals make happy pairs.

8. Say Thank You, even if you don’t feel like it. Especially when he compliments you.

9. Reacting with the appropriate amount of reverie when he deserves it is always welcome.  Men love to know they’ve surprised you (pleasantly of course).

10. Children do change everything. Enjoy every precious moment. They grow too quickly. Protect their hearts as you would guard your own.

Kiss often, laugh much and forgive when necessary. Love is a many splendoured thing
